Our girl, Andrea Brillantes just turned 18 yesterday (March 12) and her journey to becoming officially an adult wasn’t easy – like most of us.
We have seen how she skyrocketed to fame as a versatile child star and bloomed into a limitless performer.
Brillantes has come a long way in the entertainment industry and is definitely one of the influential and most talented young actresses of her generation.
She kicked-off her career as part of the Goin’ Bulilit in 2013.
Her quick stint in the child show led to a slew of television projects. Andrea was not able to stick around long enough to “graduate” after she accepted the bigger roles in teleseryes bestowed to her.
Andrea made several guest appearances in several Kapamilya Shows. Most of her roles in beginning were of young versions of the main protagonists, namely, the young Jackie (Jessy Mendiola) in Budoy, the young Celyn (Kim Chiu) in Ina, Kapatid, Anak, the young Veronica (Andi Eigenmann) in Kahit Puso’y Masugatan, the young Amanda (Cristine Reyes) in Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin, and the young April (Maja Salvador) in the critically acclaimed “Bimpo” episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya.
Her first-ever lead role was in the fantasy-science fiction drama E-boy, where she was cast as the titular character’s best friend Princess.
In 2013, Andrea top-billed the remake of the 80’s TV series Annaliza. This is where her career started to its way to stardom. Her compelling and notable portrayal of the titular role, originally by the late child star Julie Vega, brought her the Best Child Performer trophy from the 27th PMPC Star Awards for TV.
In 2014, she starred in the family drama Hawak Kamay as Lorraine, the daughter of Iza Calzado’s Attorney Bianca Magpantay.
In 2015, she took on the remarkable character of the rebellious Lia Buenavista in the incarnation of the classic soap opera Pangako Sa ‘Yo.
She then appeared in the daytime series Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin as Stephanie, the supportive younger sister to the stern Isabel (Coleen Garcia).
It was succeeded by her special participation in the fantaserye Bagani as the young Matadora/Bighani.
Andrea conquered the Kapamilya Gold block with her portrayal as the antagonistic Margarette Mondragon in Kadenang Ginto.
This year, Andrea landed a new role. An upcoming romance/fantasy series Huwag Kang Mangamba, which is set to premiere on March 22. In the series, Andrea is Mira, a blind teen who’s in search of her mother.
